DYFI state secretary Santhosh Bajal has accused the Karnataka government of failing to enforce the KPME Act, in force since 2007, to regulate private hospital treatment charges. Criticising Health Minister U T Khader for reading out the Act's provisions to the media, Bajal said patients would continue to face high medical expenses unless the government strictly enforced the law.
