The Manipur Cabinet has declared Loktak Day an annual state festival at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh, highlighting Loktak Lake’s cultural, ecological and economic importance. The lake is the largest freshwater lake in Northeast India. The decision aims to raise awareness about its significance and promote conservation of this vital natural resource.
