Ex-Bishop Saunders jailed 6.5 years for abusing Aboriginal men. Former Bishop of Broome Christopher Saunders, 76, was sentenced to six-and-a-half years in prison for raping and indecently assaulting two young Aboriginal men between 2010 and 2019. Convicted on 13 counts, he used church funds and properties to groom victims. He becomes Australia's highest-ranking Catholic convicted of clergy sexual abuse. He is eligible for parole in February 2031.
