With outright majorities out of reach across Gauteng’s metros, the province’s top six parties are outlining their non-negotiables for coalition agreements. Vote counting for the 2026 Local Government Election is entering its final stretch, with 95% of the votes tallied and two major metros. The DA remains Gauteng's leading party with more than 809 000 votes, but the ANC has narrowed the gap as counting reaches 37%.
