South African President Cyril Ramaphosa says the 2026 US midterm election results could usher in a new era in world relations after Democrats secured control of the Senate and the House. Ramaphosa also called South Africa's exclusion from the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) a setback, while signalling that Pretoria wants stronger bilateral trade ties with Washington.
