Singapore is moving urgently to strengthen its laws against haze pollution, as investigations into a recent haze episode continue. “The longer we wait, the harder it may become to establish responsibility,” Minister for Sustainability and the Environment Grace Fu told parliament on Wednesday (Nov 4). Ms Fu explained that the proposed changes to the Transboundary Haze Pollution Act aim to give authorities stronger investigative powers and impose economic consequences on those responsible.
