Fishing activities and the movement of mechanised boats have been restricted in specific coastal areas of Odisha for seven months from November 1 2026 to May 31 2027. The seasonal ban has been imposed to protect the rare Olive Ridley sea turtles during their breeding season. According to reports, the restrictions apply to designated areas near the mouths of the Rushikulya, Dhamra and Devi rivers.
