Between 2016 and 2026, Uttarakhand has witnessed at least 12 separate helicopter incidents, including five major fatal crashes and seven non-fatal accidents. A helicopter carrying six people crashed near Joshimath in Uttarakhand on Friday while flying from Badrinath to Dehradun.The crash has brought attention to Uttarakhand’s aviation safety record, especially during the annual Char Dham Yatra when thousands of pilgrims use helicopter services to visit high-altitude religious destinations.
