Independent MLA from Khanpur Umesh Kumar on Wednesday announced his decision to resign from Uttarakhand assembly, accusing Congress of failing to support him in raising issues against state govt. Kumar, who won the Khanpur seat in the 2022 assembly elections, said he would focus on strengthening his political outfit, Jan Nirman Party, and planned to field candidates in eight to 10 constituencies in the 2027 state polls.
