A major security breach at Thekkampatti sub-jail in Tamil Nadu's Theni district has raised serious questions about prison security and staff vigilance. Seventeen inmates escaped on Monday night after allegedly staging a medical emergency by claiming that a fellow prisoner was suffering an epileptic seizure. As prison staff responded, the inmates reportedly overpowered warders and fled through the main entrance, leaving three personnel injured.
